#12: Creative Map

 

             Task#12: Students will construct a map of an imaginary

                         community.

 

Standard: Students will be able to:

· Identify important components of a community.

· Comprehend the relationships between geographical factors and communities.

· Recognize and name diverse landforms and bodies of water.

· Apply map skills in a real world situation.

· Communicate effectively in written expression.

· Communicate effectively in oral expression.

· Organize their information in a variety of ways.

 

Process:

 

1. Students will receive a rubric and be shown models of various

     creative maps.

2. Students will need to brainstorm the type of community they

     would like, it’s name and what makes that community unique.

3. Students will be given large white paper and an assortment of

    art supplies to use.

 

Criteria:

· Maps must have :

· Title of Community centered

· Map key with at least 5 symbols

· Compass Rose included

· At least 3 bodies of water labeled correctly

· At least 5 types of landforms labeled correctly

· Realistic color
